[P3] Photo of 3D Model

[P3]
Photo of 3D Model
Used black reflective pad as a surface to bring out the light colours/shades that my 3D model has.

[P3] Final Render

[P3]

Final Render
Here I purposely chose a simple background because my models in itself are very detailed and I didn't want to distract the viewer nor take the attention away from the iterations. Here I used a chrome surface to give a reflection of my iterations to give further information on what shapes my iterations are (reflection gives it another 'angle'). The colours (green iterations & yellow surface) came from my precedents - I wanted to use natural colours (colours derived from my precedents) without overpowering my render.

[P3] Development Images

[P3]
Drawings

Pieces - Basic steps in developing my images
Used Solid Works to make flat shapes then imported and modified on 3DS Max.

(1) Imported my simple and different shapes from Solid Works - these shapes came from the inspiration of my precedents.

(2) Arranged them together - eventhough the shapes were originally simple, I organized them in a way where it looks complex.

(3) Used modifiers

 (4) Replicating the object - I had gone through the steps several times in order to get my 3 iterations

Experimenting Renders of 3 Digital Models

Photo of model in different environments
(4 Photo Shoots)

Used direct lighting - torch, with white surface

Black surface (non reflective)

 Black reflective surface

Black reflective surface (different from the one above) also used lighting from a lamp in order to create environment

Here are some images that I think have a nice pattern/composition:

[P2] Development Images (Post 2) - Sketch Models

[P2]

Regarding the structure of my model, I experimented mostly between sectioning, slotting and/or tying my model together:

(1) Focused on the twisted effect that my 3DS Max model had:

(2) Twists on the side of the model and took the cross shape that my 3DS Max model would have if sectioned.
(3) Here I applied the two points that my 3DS Max model has which go through the sectioned cuts:

 (4) I took the shape of my 3DS Max model but without its twist, it is tied around the edge to hold together also for part of the design in itself:

(5) Kept the straight effect but added more sides which are slotted and tied together in the middle:

[P2] Development Images (1st post) - Some renders, drawings and illustrator files

[P2]

Some render experiments:

Plans for illustrator file & model construction:

Illustrator experiments/final:

Etch (Note: not all pieces are here, just experiemented with what the etching would look like):

Final (has holes for nylon string and decided no etch because it would make it look too busy, I have added got slots to hold it together aswell):

[P2] Precedent Images

[P2]

Images that inspired me for our second project:

What I love about the first image is the detail e.g. the dragons skin and I love how they intertwine together.

Here the image of the sky tower is the same as below where it is quite symmetrical but at the same time does not make the image boring.

Some acrylic models I found on the net that I liked:
